Ceasefire between US and Iran: Kremlin's official position

The Kremlin has officially welcomed the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, expressing hope that both parties will initiate direct diplomatic engagement in the near future.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary for the Russian President, conveyed Moscow's positive reception of the news. According to Peskov, the Kremlin has consistently emphasized the necessity of transitioning from escalation in the Middle East back to diplomatic channels. "Russia hopes that the United States and Iran will defend their interests at the negotiating table," the spokesperson added.

Addressing the broader geopolitical implications, Peskov also touched upon the settlement of the Ukraine crisis, noting that the processes involving Ukraine and Iran are only indirectly linked. The Kremlin expressed optimism that American negotiators will soon have expanded opportunities to work toward a resolution of the Ukrainian conflict. Furthermore, Peskov highlighted that Moscow highly appreciates the peace-seeking efforts of US President Donald Trump and American representatives regarding the situation in Ukraine.

The ceasefire marks a significant shift in Middle Eastern geopolitics, potentially easing years of heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran. International observers note that such diplomatic breakthroughs often require extensive mediation and can influence global energy markets and regional security architectures. As US President Donald Trump continues to prioritize de-escalation strategies, the international community remains focused on whether these preliminary agreements will lead to long-term stability in the region.
