Kisvarda and Ferencvaros played out a 1-1 draw in the 10th round of the Hungarian league. The match was held at Varkert Stadium.
The hosts won a penalty in the third minute after visiting goalkeeper Daniel Radnoti fouled Kristian Herts in the box. Soma Novotni, however, failed to convert the spot kick, sending his effort against the post.
Kisvarda took the lead in the 33rd minute. Ukrainian midfielder Bogdan Melnik collected a pass from Habib Mayga and fired into the bottom corner from around 30 metres.
Ferencvaros increased the pressure after conceding and created several dangerous chances in the 39th minute. Kisvarda goalkeeper Ilya Popovich and the defenders kept the score unchanged. In one of the chances, Mayga’s header struck the post.
Scores level in second half
Ferencvaros took control of the attack after the break. The visitors struggled to break through the opposing defence for some time, but Callum O’Dowda equalised in the 75th minute.
Kisvarda tried to regain the lead late in the match. Amos Yugu’s header went wide.
Anatoli Nuriev did not feature in the match. His name appeared neither in Kisvarda’s starting lineup nor on the substitutes’ list in the official Hungarian Football Federation match report. No reason was given for his omission from the squad.
Kisvarda have 11 points after 10 matches and are ninth in the table. Ferencvaros, who have earned 14 points from nine games, are sixth.
