Former Qarabag forward Juninho continued his run in the Mexican league, scoring twice for Pumas in their 2-1 win over Atlante in the 12th round of the Apertura tournament, Globo Esporte reported.
The 29-year-old striker has now scored eight goals in the tournament, moving into second place in the scoring standings. Venezuela’s Salomon Rondon leads the list with 12 goals.
Juninho has scored four goals and provided one assist in his last three appearances. He has found the net eight times in 15 matches this season.
“I am very happy to have scored and, especially, that our team won. Although we have performed well in recent matches, we had not been getting the results we wanted. Scoring in consecutive matches is the result of hard work and the support of my teammates. I hope we can maintain this pace,” Juninho said.
The Brazilian played for Qarabag from 2023 to 2025. In January 2025, he moved from the Aghdam-based club to Brazil’s Flamengo for 5 million euros.
Juninho won the Brazilian championship and the Copa Libertadores with Flamengo in 2025. He joined Pumas in early 2026 for the same fee.
