Austria's Federal Minister for European and International Affairs, Beate Meinl-Reisinger, has held a telephone conversation with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan reported that the discussions focused on the recent drone attacks launched by Iran against Azerbaijani territory. Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided detailed information regarding the strikes, emphasizing that such actions constitute a gross violation of the norms and principles of international law and serve only to escalate tensions within the region.

Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger strongly condemned the drone attacks against Azerbaijan and expressed Austria's solidarity with the country. During the call, the Austrian minister also conveyed her gratitude for the conditions created by Azerbaijan to facilitate the evacuation of Austrian citizens from Iran through Azerbaijani territory. Both parties stressed the importance of increasing diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation in the Middle East and underscored the necessity of respecting international legal frameworks.

This diplomatic engagement comes amid heightened regional security concerns. Azerbaijan, a key strategic partner in the South Caucasus, has consistently advocated for stability and the protection of sovereign borders. The cooperation between Baku and Vienna on humanitarian evacuations further highlights the growing bilateral ties and Azerbaijan's role as a reliable regional hub for international diplomatic and logistical operations.
