Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan held a telephone conversation to discuss the evolving security situation in the region.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan released a statement regarding the call. During the conversation, the ministers exchanged views on the military-political situation, specifically focusing on the rising tensions and security risks in the Middle East. Both parties emphasized that the expansion of regional escalation to a broader geography is unacceptable and stressed the importance of resolving issues through diplomatic means based on the norms of international law.

The ministers stated that maintaining stability in the region and ensuring the safety of the civilian population are priority issues. It was noted that the strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Türkiye gains even more significance against the backdrop of current challenges, and the two brotherly countries will continue their close coordination.

The relationship between Baku and Ankara is characterized by the Shusha Declaration, signed in 2021, which elevated the ties between the two nations to the level of a formal military and political alliance. This strategic partnership involves regular high-level consultations on global and regional security issues, reflecting the principle of "one nation, two states" in their joint foreign policy approach toward regional stability.
