Israeli President Isaac Herzog has sent a congratulatory letter to President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan, expressing his best wishes to the state and its people.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the letter reads: "On behalf of the State of Israel and its citizens, I am pleased to convey my best wishes to you on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan. May this proud holiday mark the beginning of another year of peace and prosperity for your state and people. Our strategically vital and actively developing relations with Azerbaijan are highly valued in Israel. This is not limited to politics; there are warm, friendly relations between our peoples."
President Herzog also emphasized the significance of the bilateral partnership in maintaining regional stability. "There are many challenges in our shared region, and Azerbaijan and Israel play the role of two anchors of stability in this complex environment. Furthermore, I firmly believe that our close bilateral ties have a positive impact on many other actors in Eurasia. In this regard, I was very pleased to learn about the significant progress achieved in our economic cooperation, especially in the energy sector," the Israeli President added, expressing hope for the further strengthening of relations in the coming year.
Azerbaijan and Israel share robust bilateral relations, particularly in the fields of energy, security, and technology. Israel is a major purchaser of Azerbaijani oil, while Azerbaijan has historically been a key partner for Israel in the South Caucasus region. Diplomatic ties between the two nations reached a new milestone with the opening of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tel Aviv in 2023.
