The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have announced the elimination of a high-ranking Hamas commander during a targeted operation. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the military confirmed the development via its official account on the X social media platform.
"Imad Hassan Hussein Aslim, the deputy commander of Hamas's 'Gaza' brigade and commander of the 'Zeitun' battalion, has been neutralized," the statement said.
According to Israeli authorities, Aslim played a key role in orchestrating the October 7 incursions into Israeli territory and was responsible for organizing subsequent attacks against Israeli forces within the Gaza Strip.
The conflict in the Gaza Strip, which escalated significantly following the events of October 7, 2023, has led to a protracted military campaign. The IDF has consistently stated that its strategic objective is to dismantle Hamas's military and governance capabilities in the region, frequently targeting senior leadership figures as part of this broader operational mandate.
