Goalkeeper Islam Imamov, who plays for Russia’s Pari Nizhny Novgorod, could be called up to the Azerbaijan national team. The Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) has obtained clearance for the 26-year-old to represent the national team, and the coaching staff are interested in his services.
Officials considered inviting Imamov to the current training camp so he could get to know the team and adapt. However, the goalkeeper was not called up this time.
Imamov has not yet obtained Azerbaijani citizenship. His participation in the national team’s next training camp is being considered as a possibility.
The goalkeeper joined Pari Nizhny Novgorod in July. His contract with the club runs until June 30, 2027. During his career, Imamov has also played for Legion-Dinamo, Kuban Holding and SKA-Khabarovsk.
