The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has launched a large-scale drone and missile attack against the United States air base located in the Sheikh Isa region of Bahrain.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this was stated in an official announcement released by the IRGC.
The strike was reportedly carried out as part of the fourteenth wave of the "True Promise-4" operation. According to the report, 20 drones and 3 missiles accurately hit designated targets during the operation. The statement emphasized: "As a result, the main command and headquarters building of the US air base was destroyed."
The escalation follows military operations initiated by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28, which involved airstrikes on various cities across the Islamic Republic. In response, Iran launched retaliatory missile strikes against Israeli territory. Furthermore, Iranian forces have targeted fourteen US military bases located across Persian Gulf countries. Due to the rising tensions in the Middle East, several countries in the region have temporarily closed their airspace. Reports also indicate that Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed as a result of the initial US and Israeli attacks.
The Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain is a strategic installation that hosts various international coalition forces and plays a critical role in regional maritime and aerial surveillance. US President Donald Trump has previously emphasized the strategic importance of maintaining a military presence in the Gulf to ensure global energy security and counter regional threats. This latest confrontation marks a significant escalation in the direct military conflict between Tehran and Washington, impacting the broader geopolitical stability of the Middle East.
