Iran's air defense forces have intercepted and destroyed an Israeli Hermes 900 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in the airspace over the city of Shiraz.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) released an official statement confirming the incident. According to the military wing, the advanced surveillance drone was neutralized using modern electronic warfare and air defense systems after entering Iranian territory.
"An advanced Hermes 900 UAV was intercepted and destroyed by a modern air defense system over the skies of Shiraz," the IRGC statement noted, adding that the wreckage is being analyzed by technical experts to extract sensitive data.
The Hermes 900, manufactured by Elbit Systems, is a medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) multi-mission UAV designed for tactical missions, including reconnaissance and surveillance. This incident occurs amid heightened regional tensions and follows a series of reported drone incursions in the Middle East. Shiraz, located in southwestern Iran, is a significant urban center and home to several strategic facilities, making its airspace a sensitive zone for national security.
