Iranian foreign minister arrives in New York for UN General Assembly

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in New York on Monday to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, according to Iran’s state-owned news agency IRNA.

Araghchi, who is leading a high-level delegation, was received at John F. Kennedy International Airport by Gholamhossein Darzi, Iran’s permanent representative and charge d’affaires to the United Nations.

Before travelling to New York, the foreign minister made a brief stop in Doha, where he held talks with Qatari officials on the latest regional developments.

Pezeshkian also due to attend

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is scheduled to travel to New York on Tuesday to participate in and address the 81st UN General Assembly.

During the summit, Pezeshkian is expected to hold meetings and consultations with several world leaders and officials on the sidelines.
