The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has issued an official warning to citizens about travel to France, Belgium and Italy.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that a written statement from Iran’s Foreign Ministry urged citizens to avoid traveling to the three European countries unless absolutely necessary.
The ministry cited “widespread disruption of public order and a failure to ensure citizens’ safety” in European cities as the main reasons for its advice against travel.
Iranian citizens temporarily or permanently residing in France, Belgium and Italy were also advised to avoid public areas and squares where mass protests, riots or heightened tensions are occurring.
Large-scale social protests and strikes are currently taking place in many leading European Union countries over a sharp rise in living costs, a deepening housing crisis, inflation and structural problems in education systems.
