Iran to send 282 athletes to 2026 Asian Games in Japan

The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Iran has officially confirmed the final list of athletes who will represent the country at the 20th Asian Games, scheduled to take place in Japan's Aichi-Nagoya prefecture in 2026.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this decision was finalized following a series of technical and expert consultations held with national sports federations.

In an official statement, the NOC noted that the selection process involved a comprehensive evaluation of various criteria, including the performance history of federations, the current preparation levels of athletes, and their potential to secure medals. The finalized delegation consists of 282 athletes, comprising 191 men and 91 women.

Registration for the selected athletes is currently underway through the official portal of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Organizing Committee.

The 20th Asian Games, a major multi-sport event, are set to be held in Japan from September 19 to October 4, 2026. These games are significant as they bring together top athletes from across the continent to compete in a wide array of disciplines, serving as a key benchmark for international sporting excellence in Asia.
