Hamid Bovard, the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company, has officially refuted claims made by US President Donald Trump suggesting that Kharg Island has been "torn to pieces."
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing international media reports, Bovard stated that the situation on Kharg Island remains stable and that oil production facilities are continuing their operations without interruption.
"Trump's tweets are absurd. The situation in Kharg is calm," the head of the National Iranian Oil Company emphasized. Bovard noted that while Kharg Island has previously been subjected to repeated bombardments by US and Israeli forces, the oil industry personnel have ensured that operations on the island have never ceased, not even for a minute.
Furthermore, Bovard stated that contractor companies are currently engaged in the restoration and modernization of oil storage tanks and berthing facilities on the island. Kharg Island serves as a critical infrastructure hub for Iran, accounting for approximately 90 percent of the country's total oil exports. The facility's strategic importance makes it a frequent subject of geopolitical discourse and regional security assessments.
