An individual wanted internationally is set to be extradited from Russia to Azerbaijan.
The Prosecutor General's Office confirmed this development to the Operative Information Center-OMM.
According to the official statement, the request for the extradition of Azerbaijani citizen Nahid Rasim oglu Alicanli was granted by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, in accordance with the Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family, and Criminal Matters dated October 7, 2002.
The investigation, conducted by the Gubadli Military Prosecutor's Office, established reasonable grounds to suspect that Alicanli committed an offense under Article 333.4-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which pertains to the unauthorized abandonment of a military unit or place of service for a period exceeding three months. Following the initiation of criminal proceedings, the suspect evaded investigation and was subsequently placed on an international wanted list.
The Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice is currently undertaking the necessary measures to facilitate his transfer to Azerbaijan in compliance with international legal procedures. Such extradition cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia remains a critical component of bilateral legal relations, ensuring that individuals accused of serious offenses, including military crimes, are held accountable under the jurisdiction of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
