Cases of illegal tree cutting have been identified in Baku and Quba district during inspections conducted by officials of the State Environmental Safety Service over the past week.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that the State Environmental Safety Service provided the information.
The investigation found that illegal tree cutting at 65C Bulbul Avenue in Baku’s Nasimi district, in the Ramana settlement of Surakhani district and in the administrative area of Chichi village in Quba district caused 225,740 manats in damage to greenery.
As the damage caused to greenery in each case constituted a criminal offense, the collected materials were sent to law enforcement agencies for a legal assessment.
Illegal tree cutting is prohibited under Azerbaijan’s environmental legislation, and cases involving significant damage may result in criminal liability. Authorities regularly conduct inspections to protect urban and rural green areas and prevent unauthorized removal of trees.
