İlham Əliyev: Avropa istiqamətinə gedən dəhlizinin çox böyük potensialı var

The transport and digital corridor extending toward Europe holds immense potential for the region's future development, President Ilham Aliyev stated during panel discussions in Munich. The head of state emphasized that Azerbaijan is actively working with Central Asian partners on a fiber-optic cable project to be laid along the bottom of the Caspian Sea, noting that technical evaluations and new opportunities are currently being explored.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, these remarks were made during a session titled "Open Corridor Policy? Deepening Trans-Caspian Cooperation." President Ilham Aliyev further highlighted the strategic prospects for regional connectivity following a potential peace agreement with Armenia. "After peace is achieved with Armenia, the corridor passing through Azerbaijan to Armenia and then toward Europe will also have very significant potential," the head of state added.

The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, often referred to as the Middle Corridor, has become a focal point for international logistics, linking China and Central Asia with Europe via Azerbaijan. By integrating digital infrastructure like fiber-optic networks with traditional transport links, Azerbaijan aims to solidify its role as a primary transit hub. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to diversify the regional economy and enhance the strategic importance of the South Caucasus in global trade and telecommunications.
