The Irpin City Council has declared President Ilham Aliyev an honorary citizen of the Ukrainian city, recognizing Azerbaijan's significant humanitarian contributions and reconstruction efforts.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the decision was announced by Angela Makeyeva, the head of the Irpin City Council and acting mayor. Makeyeva highlighted that the title was awarded in appreciation of the extensive support provided by Azerbaijan since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, which includes the full restoration of a local lyceum and a city polyclinic that had sustained damage.
Under the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan has dispatched 11 humanitarian aid packages to Ukraine to help mitigate the energy crisis and address urgent social challenges. Furthermore, the Azerbaijani government has facilitated the rehabilitation of more than 500 children from war-affected regions of Ukraine within Azerbaijan. This support reflects Azerbaijan's commitment to humanitarian principles and its ongoing partnership with Ukraine in rebuilding critical civilian infrastructure.
