İlham Əliyev: Cəbrayılın ölkəmiz üçün böyük töhfəsi olacaq

President Ilham Aliyev has stated that the Jabrayil district will make a significant contribution to Azerbaijan's economy, particularly in the agricultural and transportation sectors. The head of state made these remarks on May 9 during a meeting with residents who have relocated to the village of Shukurbayli in the Jabrayil district.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the infrastructure development in the region. "You probably remember the old road; in Soviet times, before the occupation, it was a very narrow road running right along the Araz River. We restored it, but the new road—a four-lane highway that is part of the Zangezur corridor and extends to the Armenian border—meets the highest standards," the President said. He added that Jabrayil, along with other towns and villages situated along international transport corridors, will benefit greatly from these logistics projects in the future.

The Jabrayil district, liberated from occupation during the 2020 44-day war, is currently undergoing extensive reconstruction under the "Great Return" program. The Zangezur corridor mentioned by the President is a strategic transportation project aimed at connecting mainland Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan exclave, which Baku envisions as a vital link in the Middle Corridor connecting Asia to Europe. The restoration of agricultural activities in the fertile lands of Jabrayil is expected to bolster Azerbaijan's food security and non-oil GDP as part of the ongoing regional development initiatives.
