İlham Əliyev: Energetika Azərbaycanın Aİ ilə münasibətlərinin əsas hərəkətverici qüvvəsi olaraq qalır

Energy has been, is, and will continue to be the main driving force of relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union (EU).

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks during a joint press statement with the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa.

The head of state emphasized that 16 countries, the majority of which are EU member states, currently receive natural gas from Azerbaijan. "Azerbaijan continues to play a vital role in ensuring Europe's energy security," President Ilham Aliyev stated, highlighting the expanding geography of Azerbaijani gas exports across the continent.

The strategic partnership between Baku and Brussels has intensified significantly following the 2022 Memorandum of Understanding on a Strategic Partnership in the Field of Energy. This agreement aims to double the capacity of the Southern Gas Corridor to deliver at least 20 billion cubic meters of gas annually to the EU by 2027. Beyond traditional fossil fuels, Azerbaijan is also positioning itself as a major provider of renewable energy to Europe through the development of green energy corridors, including the Black Sea submarine cable project.
