President Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to the staff of the Azerbaijan State Musical Drama Theater in Derbent on the occasion of its reopening following extensive reconstruction and renovation works.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the message emphasizes the historical and cultural significance of the institution. "I congratulate you on this remarkable event—the opening of the Azerbaijan State Musical Drama Theater in Derbent after its large-scale reconstruction," the head of state noted in his message. President Ilham Aliyev also expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Dagestan for their attention to preserving this monument of the Azerbaijani people's cultural and historical heritage.

The President highlighted that the theater, which has a history spanning over a century, remains one of the oldest collectives of Azerbaijani national theatrical art. As the only state theater institution operating in the Azerbaijani language within the Russian Federation, the Derbent-based theater has consistently played a vital role in the cultural life of Dagestan. The head of state emphasized that the successful staging of works by prominent Azerbaijani playwrights has earned the center wide acclaim both within Dagestan and beyond its borders.

The reopening of the theater is viewed as a significant milestone in the humanitarian cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia. President Ilham Aliyev noted that the close ties of friendship, neighborliness, and mutual support between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Dagestan serve as a cornerstone for the broader strategic partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation. This cultural project underscores the commitment of both nations to preserving ethnic diversity and fostering bilateral relations through the promotion of shared artistic and historical values.
