Yemen’s Houthi group claimed on Monday that it had targeted Saudi airports and “Saudi Aramco” facilities over the previous 48 hours, Anadolu Agency reported.

In a statement on Telegram, Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree said the group used ballistic and cruise missiles as well as drones. He said the attacks were in response to “Saudi aggression targeting our country.”

Saree claimed the group struck the Shaybah oil field, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Abha International Airport.

He also alleged that the Houthis attacked “Saudi enemy radars” at Jabal al-Hisn and Jabal al-Rahmah, as well as Khamis Mushait Air Base, in three phases.

Saudi authorities did not immediately comment on the Houthi claims.

The claims come amid escalating hostilities between the Houthis and forces aligned with Yemen’s internationally recognized government, which is backed by a Saudi-led coalition.

Yemen has been in conflict since 2014, when the Houthis seized the capital, Sanaa, and much of the country’s north.

Fighting has intensified since July and spread into neighboring Saudi Arabia, with the Houthis repeatedly targeting the kingdom.
