Heavy rain expected in Baku and regions on Oct. 6-7

Intermittent rain is expected in some areas of Baku and the Absheron Peninsula during the first half of the day on Oct. 6-7.

“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that the National Hydrometeorological Service issued the forecast.

Brief heavy showers are possible in parts of the peninsula during the day on Oct. 6, with rainfall likely to intensify somewhat overnight and in the morning on Oct. 7.

Intermittent rain is forecast in some regions of Azerbaijan from the evening of Oct. 6 through the daytime on Oct. 7. Brief intense downpours, thunderstorms and hail are possible in isolated areas, while snow may fall in mountainous areas. Precipitation could intensify overnight and in the morning from Oct. 6 to 7.

Rainfall is expected to raise water levels in rivers. Short-term flooding and mudflows are possible on some rivers in the Greater and Lesser Caucasus, the Lankaran-Astara region and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
