As of 10:00 AM on August 16, intermittent precipitation continues in several regions of Azerbaijan. Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms have been recorded in isolated areas, according to the latest weather reports.
The National Hydrometeorology Service reported to the Operative Information Center-OMM that significant rainfall was measured in various districts. Astara recorded 40 mm of precipitation, which accounts for 48% of the monthly norm. Other notable rainfall amounts include 11 mm in Zagatala, 9 mm in Guba, 7 mm in Aghstafa and Lankaran, 5 mm in Dashkasan and Tovuz, 4 mm in Gusar, 3 mm in Khaltan, 2 mm in Lerik and Gakh, and up to 1 mm in Gryz, Altiaghaj, Shaki, Gadabay, and Shamkir.
Visibility has been significantly reduced due to fog in Shahdag, Altiaghaj, Shamkir, Goygol, Gakh (Saribash), Dashkasan, and Gadabay, with visibility dropping to as low as 500 meters in some locations. Meanwhile, in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, strong north-westerly winds have been observed, reaching speeds of up to 21 m/s, while Neftchala experienced south-easterly winds peaking at 20 m/s.
Temperature readings across the country remain varied, with maximum temperatures reaching 30°C in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, 36°C in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 34°C in the lowland regions, and up to 20°C in mountainous areas.
The National Hydrometeorology Service regularly monitors these weather patterns to provide timely updates to the public, as Azerbaijan's diverse geography—ranging from coastal lowlands to high mountain ranges—often results in localized and rapidly changing meteorological conditions.
