Russian coach Alexander Grigoryan has described Real Madrid’s players as an uncontrollable squad, saying on Match TV that the team needs to pull together.
“I think Mourinho is doing everything he can to unite this Madrid squad. This team really is an uncontrollable group. When Xabi Alonso was in charge of Real Madrid, the players openly made a fool of him on social media. It was terrible. Real Madrid’s leading players have incredibly big egos. You cannot help but admire the genius of Carlo Ancelotti, who consistently won titles with people like that,” Grigoryan said.
Grigoryan said Mourinho had been brought in for a transitional period and could contribute to the club’s rebuilding. He said Mourinho’s first task should be to turn the team into a united group, adding that another coach would take over after him.
After nine rounds of this season’s Spanish La Liga, Real Madrid sit third in the standings with 21 points.
