Garabagh FC has strengthened its squad by signing Gambian forward Zakaria Sawo. The Aghdam representative has secured the 26-year-old striker on a three-year contract, bolstering their attacking options for the upcoming seasons.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Sawo was previously under contract with Swedish club Djurgården and has been playing on loan for Cypriot side AEL Limassol since January this year. Throughout his career, the center-forward has also represented Sweden's BK Olympic and Oskarshamns, as well as Norway's Start. This signing follows Garabagh's recent acquisition of French winger Jaly Mouaddib.
Garabagh FC, representing the historically significant city of Aghdam, is Azerbaijan's most successful football club in the modern era, regularly competing in the group stages of prestigious European tournaments such as the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. The club currently plays its home matches in Baku while reconstruction and restoration projects continue in Aghdam following the liberation of Azerbaijani territories.
