Fidan attends UN meeting on Gaza peace plan and New York Declaration

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan attended a United Nations meeting reviewing last year’s New York Declaration and a 20-point peace plan for resolving the Palestinian conflict, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.

Fidan participated in the meeting, titled “The Way Forward: One Year After the New York Declaration and the 20-Point Comprehensive Peace Plan,” on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly in New York, the ministry said on the Turkish social media platform “NSosyal”.

The ministry did not provide further details about the event.

What is the New York Declaration?

Last September, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution endorsing the New York Declaration. The initiative seeks to advance recognition of a Palestinian state and promote a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
