Fenerbahçe’s English footballer Mason Greenwood was sent off during a friendly against Turan Tovuz in Baku, prompting discussions within the club. He was reportedly dismissed after a challenge on an opponent.
According to reports, head coach İsmail Kartal spoke with Greenwood after the match, which was played during a break for international fixtures. After Fenerbahçe returned from its trip to Azerbaijan, Kartal held a one-on-one meeting with Greenwood and asked him to be more careful in future games.
The experienced coach reportedly reminded the player how important he is to the team and stressed that critical matches lie ahead. Kartal is said to have told Greenwood: “You are very valuable to the team.”
As Fenerbahçe enters the decisive stage of the season, the club will keep a close eye on both Greenwood’s performances on the pitch and his discipline.
