Explosions were heard in Riyadh on Tuesday after Saudi Arabia’s National Early Warning Platform issued a security alert amid escalating hostilities with Yemen’s Houthis, Anadolu Agency reported.
Saudi Civil Defense said on the social media platform “X” that the alert had been issued in the capital over a potential danger. It urged residents to follow safety instructions.
Reports of explosions followed the warning. There was no immediate official information on their cause or on possible casualties or damage.
The incident comes amid escalating hostilities between Saudi Arabia and the Houthi group in Yemen. The Houthis have launched missile and drone attacks against the kingdom, while the Saudi-led coalition has carried out airstrikes on Houthi positions in Yemen.
