President of the European Council Antonio Costa has expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijan for its assistance in the evacuation of European Union (EU) citizens from Iran.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the EU official made these remarks during a joint press statement with President Ilham Aliyev in Baku. Costa emphasized that Azerbaijan's logistical and diplomatic support played a critical role in ensuring the safety of EU nationals during the evacuation process.
The meeting in Baku highlights Azerbaijan's growing role as a reliable strategic partner for the European Union in the region. Beyond humanitarian assistance and evacuation efforts, Azerbaijan remains a key contributor to Europe's energy security and a vital link in the Middle Corridor international transport route.
