EU, Armenia discuss cooperation at New York meeting

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the European Union would continue supporting the implementation of the Armenian government’s programs and the development of cooperation in various areas during a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the information was released by the Armenian prime minister’s press service and the European Commission. The meeting focused on key issues on the Armenia-European Union cooperation agenda.

Pashinyan emphasized the importance of EU support for the diversification of Armenia’s economy and the decisions adopted in this area. The prime minister also highlighted the EU’s contribution to the “effective implementation of democratic reforms” in Armenia.

The sides also discussed issues of importance for regional security and stability.

The UN General Assembly brings together representatives of member states in New York each year to address international peace and security, development and other issues on the global agenda. Meetings held on its sidelines are frequently used by leaders to review bilateral and regional cooperation.
