Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed hope that Türkiye and the United States will reach their target of $100 billion in bilateral trade as the two countries approach the 100th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, Anadolu Agency reported.
“As we approach the 100th anniversary of our diplomatic relations, I wholeheartedly believe that we will continue the momentum we have achieved with the USA in the economic field as well, and that together we will reach our target of $100 billion in trade volume in a short time,” Erdogan said in a social media post on Wednesday.
Erdogan meets Turkish-American business representatives
The president made the remarks during a meeting with representatives of the Turkish-American business community at the Turkish House.
He thanked the American Chamber of Commerce, the countries’ business councils and the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Türkiye, known by its Turkish acronym DEIK, for contributing to the meeting.
Erdogan said the discussions covered a range of issues and sectors, including industry, finance, energy, transportation, health and defense.
