The celebration of the 100th anniversary of the First Turkology Congress, which took place in 1926, in Baku is of profound symbolic importance.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this was stated in a message from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the participants of the "Turkic World Week," an event dedicated to the centennial of the historic congress.

"Azerbaijan continues to contribute significantly to enhancing the effectiveness and unity of the Turkic world today," Erdogan emphasized in his address.

The Turkish President further noted that the topics discussed during the 1926 First Turkology Congress remain perpetually relevant for the Turkic nations:

"The First Turkology Congress played a pivotal role in shaping the common consciousness of history, language, and culture within the Turkic world. It is the shared responsibility of the entire Turkic world to preserve, strengthen, and pass on the ideals inherited from this congress to future generations."

Erdogan also highlighted the critical importance of unity and friendship among Turkic states in the modern geopolitical landscape. The First Turkology Congress, held in Baku in 1926, was a landmark event that brought together scholars to discuss the standardization of the Turkic alphabet and linguistic development, laying the groundwork for modern cultural cooperation among Turkic-speaking nations.
