Emreli’s goal against Lithuania covered by Croatian and Polish media

Azerbaijan national team forward Mahir Emreli’s goal in the UEFA Nations League match against Lithuania has been covered by Croatian and Polish media.

Croatia’s Index publication introduced Emreli as a former player of Zagreb-based Dinamo. It reported that the Raków forward took advantage of an opportunity in the 14th minute to level the score at 1-1.

Index also highlighted his goal celebration. Emreli made a military salute after scoring on Sept. 27, the Remembrance Day observed in memory of those who died in the 44-day war with Armenia in 2020.

The article also recalled that the forward, who played for Dinamo from 2022 to 2024, won the Croatian league title and cup with the club.

Poland’s WP publication noted that the injury Emreli suffered in a friendly against Tajikistan was not serious and that he started against Lithuania. It also emphasized that Rahil Mammadov and Renat Dadashov, both well known to Polish football, played in the match in Kaunas.

The Lithuania-Azerbaijan match ended in a 1-1 draw.
