Ermənistanda 11 kənd işıqsız qaldı

In Armenia, 11 villages have been left without electricity following damage to a local substation in the Aparan region caused by a lightning strike.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Armenian media outlets, citing the Electric Networks of Armenia, confirmed the incident.

Technical teams began replacing the damaged transformer this morning. Authorities expect the repair work to be completed within the next few hours, restoring power to the affected residents.

It is noted that this incident follows recent severe weather reports in the country, where a lightning strike previously caused a bridge to collapse near the city of Charentsavan on the Yerevan-Sevan highway.

The Syunik region, located in the southern part of Armenia, is a mountainous area that frequently experiences infrastructure challenges due to its rugged terrain and susceptibility to extreme weather conditions. Power grid stability remains a critical concern for rural settlements in the region, which often rely on aging electrical infrastructure.
