The number of confirmed Ebola virus cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo has reached 1,502, according to the latest data released by health officials.
The Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Congolese Ministry of Communication and Media, reported that the outbreak has resulted in 473 fatalities to date.
The agency further stated that 628 patients are currently receiving treatment in isolation or hospital settings, while 213 individuals have successfully recovered from the virus.
Ebola virus disease (EVD) is a severe, often fatal illness in humans, characterized by the sudden onset of fever, intense weakness, muscle pain, headache, and sore throat. The Democratic Republic of Congo has faced multiple outbreaks of the virus over the past several decades, with the country's health infrastructure frequently mobilizing international support to contain the spread and manage patient care in affected regions.
