A driver operating a vehicle under the influence of narcotics has been arrested in Azerbaijan, according to the Main State Traffic Police Department.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reported that the incident occurred in the Astara district. A resident of the Masalli district, identified as C. Agayev, was stopped at a stationary police checkpoint while driving a VAZ-2101 model vehicle. Officers from the Main State Traffic Police Department's Patrol Service Regiment became suspicious of the driver's behavior during a routine document check and subsequently mandated a medical examination.
The medical assessment confirmed that C. Agayev was under the influence of narcotics at the time of the traffic stop. Following the examination, the court sentenced him to 15 days of administrative detention.
Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol remains a serious offense in Azerbaijan, with authorities maintaining a zero-tolerance policy to ensure road safety. The Main State Traffic Police Department frequently conducts such checks on highways across the country to prevent traffic accidents and protect public safety.
