Representatives of more than 10 countries, including Türkiye, walked out of the gathering hall in Baku on Thursday as Israeli President Isaac Herzog began his speech at an Asian security summit.

Herzog started speaking around noon at the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) summit, according to the report.

A similar walkout took place during a speech by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the UN General Assembly’s high-level week in New York in September.

Azerbaijan, the current CICA chair, is hosting the one-day summit, which brings together representatives of member states, observer countries and partner international organizations.

Discussions are expected to focus on regional cooperation, connectivity, digitalization and sustainable development under Azerbaijan’s chairmanship.

The summit is expected to adopt a Baku declaration and a statement on cooperation in occupational safety and health, and to announce Laos’ accession as a new member.
