Significant traffic congestion and vehicle density have been observed on several major roads and avenues in Baku today.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Intelligent Transport Management Center (ITMC) has released the latest data regarding the current traffic situation in the capital.
According to the official report, heavy traffic is currently concentrated in the following areas:
- Baku-Sumgait highway, in the direction of the "20 January" metro station;
- Tbilisi Avenue, from the "20 January" metro station toward the city center;
- Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, from the intersection with Ahmad Rajabli Street to the intersection with Atatürk Avenue;
- Uzeyir Hajibeyli Street, up to the intersection with Azadlig Avenue;
- Airport highway, in the direction of the "Koroghlu" metro station;
- The 1st Lakeside (Göl kənarı) road, in the direction of Ziya Bunyadov Avenue.
The Intelligent Transport Management Center monitors the city's traffic flow 24/7 using specialized surveillance cameras and sensors to ensure the efficient movement of vehicles in Azerbaijan's capital. Such congestion is typical during peak hours in Baku, as the city continues to expand its infrastructure to accommodate the growing number of private and public transport vehicles. Drivers are advised to take these delays into account and use alternative routes where possible to ensure timely arrival at their destinations.
