Construction collapse in Baku kills one, injures another

The Ministry of Emergency Situations’ “112” hotline received a report of a collapse at a private home in Bahar settlement, Surakhani district, Baku.

The ministry told the “Operative Information Center-OMM” about the incident.

Rescuers from the ministry’s Special Risk Rescue Service were immediately dispatched to the scene.

An assessment of conditions at the site found that concrete slabs had collapsed at a house under construction, trapping people beneath the debris.

Using specialized rescue equipment, rescuers pulled out alive a resident, Khalil Sharif oghlu Mehdiyev, born in 1966, who had sustained injuries of varying severity. They also recovered the body of another resident, Jalil Sharif oghlu Mehdiyev, born in 1969, and handed both over to the relevant authorities.

Relevant agencies are investigating the incident.
