Austrian referee Cristian-Petru Chocîrcă, who will officiate the Azerbaijan-Liechtenstein match in the UEFA Nations League, previously served as a video assistant referee in a Qarabag match in European competition.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the 37-year-old FIFA referee worked at the UEFA Europa League group-stage second-round match between Häcken of Sweden and Qarabag in 2023.
He performed VAR duties during that match, which ended in a 1-0 victory for the Azerbaijani club.
Chocîrcă has been appointed to international matches since 2019. In the current season, he has officiated matches in the Austrian Bundesliga as well as UEFA Champions League and UEFA Conference League qualifying rounds.
The Azerbaijan-Liechtenstein match will kick off at 20:00 on Oct. 1 at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium. The UEFA Nations League is a competition involving European national teams, with matches overseen by referees appointed by UEFA.
