Chelsea may regret delaying Manu Kone transfer

London club Chelsea wanted to sign Roma midfielder Manu Kone during the summer transfer window.

“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports, citing Corriere dello Sport, that the Blues could have signed the 25-year-old Frenchman for about 50 million euros last summer. However, the club decided against the transfer.

Kone’s price doubles

Following the midfielder’s impressive start to the new season, Roma now values his transfer at 100 million euros.

Kone has made six appearances in all competitions this season and scored two goals. The midfielder’s current contract with the Italian club runs until mid-2029.

Transfermarkt values the player’s market price at 60 million euros.

Kone’s performances have increased interest in his potential transfer, while his long-term contract gives Roma a strong negotiating position. The Italian club can therefore demand a substantially higher fee should Chelsea or another suitor renew its interest.
