The official Bundesliga website has covered the Sabah-Borussia match in the third round of the UEFA Champions League league phase. The Dortmund club won 2-1 in Baku.
The report highlighted Serhou Guirassy’s brace as well as the home side’s fight throughout the match. Before the game, the teams had the same number of points in the standings, while Sabah had beaten Slavia Prague 2-0 in its previous home match.
Sabah equalizes
In the opening minutes, Fabio Silva twice forced Stanislav Pokatilov into action. In the 10th minute, Guirassy opened the scoring by putting away a rebound from Felix Nmecha’s shot.
Sabah gradually settled into the game. Joy-Lance Mickels’ goal was ruled out for offside, but in the 39th minute, Aiden McCarthy headed home after a free kick by Timotheusz Puchacz.
Guirassy scores the winner
In the 53rd minute, Guirassy converted a pass from Jobe Bellingham. Orphe Mbina had a chance to equalize, but his shot went wide. McCarthy also stopped Guirassy’s attempt to complete a hat trick.
The Bundesliga website also referred to a disputed incident involving Nico Schlotterbeck: Sabah appealed for a penalty, but the referee did not heed the protest.
