The body of a man swept away by floodwaters in Azerbaijan's Qusar district has been recovered.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that 27-year-old Faiq Farid oglu Rasulov, a resident of Gunduzqala village, was swept away by a sudden surge in the Guruchay river following heavy rainfall in the region. Local authorities launched an immediate search operation after the victim went missing during the natural disaster.

Following intensive search efforts, the body of Rasulov was discovered in the Gunduzqala village area and handed over to the relevant authorities for examination. An official investigation into the circumstances of the incident is currently underway by local law enforcement agencies.

The northern regions of Azerbaijan, particularly the Greater Caucasus mountain range where Qusar is located, are frequently prone to seasonal flash floods and mudflows. These natural phenomena often occur due to rapid snowmelt or intense precipitation, posing significant challenges to local infrastructure and safety. The Guruchay river is one of the primary waterways in the district that experiences such volatile water level fluctuations during extreme weather conditions.
