Turan Tovuz head coach Kurban Berdiyev assessed his team’s 1-0 defeat to Imishli in the eighth round of the Azerbaijan Premier League. Speaking at a post-match news conference, he said the opponents deserved the win.
“Imishli deserved its win today. We were wary of set pieces, and conceded from one of those situations. We worked on these scenarios in training, but still made a mistake. We also failed to make the most of the few chances we created,” Berdiyev said.
Asked why Turan Tovuz had failed to score in the match despite being dangerous from set pieces, the head coach said the team worked sufficiently on them, but could not score every time. Berdiyev said the opponents had taken their chance.
The match at Yevlakh City Stadium was decided by Diogo Rollo’s goal in the 25th minute. After the defeat, Turan Tovuz sat fourth in the standings with 14 points from eight matches.
