Beijing issues level 2 flood alert due to heavy rainfall

Authorities in Beijing have intensified safety measures following the arrival of heavy rainfall associated with Typhoon Dolphin. The capital has been placed under a level 2 flood emergency alert as meteorological forecasts indicate significant precipitation across the city.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, official reports predict that most districts in Beijing will experience over 100 millimeters of rainfall within a six-hour period. Authorities anticipate that total precipitation levels could reach 150 millimeters within 24 hours. In response, emergency response plans have been activated, with drainage systems and flood barriers placed on high alert. Local officials have also confirmed the evacuation of residents from areas deemed at high risk of flooding.

While the immediate intensity of Typhoon Dolphin has begun to subside, high-alert warnings remain in effect across eastern and central China due to persistent strong winds and torrential rain. The storm has significantly impacted the provinces of Zhejiang, Shanghai, and Fujian, where authorities have relocated over one million people to safer areas to mitigate the risks posed by the natural disaster.
