Baku Metro CJSC has officially launched the implementation of its line separation project.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, train services between the "28 May" and "Nizami" metro stations have been suspended as of today. This suspension is a necessary step to facilitate the construction of a new tunnel required for the separation of the metro lines, a project expected to take approximately 11 months to complete.
The ongoing infrastructure work is anticipated to alter passenger flow and traffic patterns within the capital, Baku. To mitigate the impact of this service disruption, the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) has introduced six new express bus routes to ensure connectivity for commuters during the construction period.
The new express routes are as follows:
- M1: "Elmlar Akademiyasi" and "28 May" metro stations;
- M2: "Inshaatchilar", "Nizami", and "28 May" metro stations;
- M3: "20 Yanvar", "Nizami", and "28 May" metro stations;
- M4: "20 Yanvar" and "Koroglu" metro stations;
- M5: "20 Yanvar" and "Ganjlik" metro stations;
- M6: "Elmlar Akademiyasi" and "Ganjlik" metro stations.
The Baku Metro, which serves as the primary mode of public transportation in the capital, continues to modernize its infrastructure to improve efficiency and accommodate the city's growing population. This line separation project is part of a broader strategic plan to optimize the metro network's operational capacity.
