Baku is hosting a conference titled “Protecting historic religious monuments: challenges and prospects,” jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture and the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that employees of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations and the Ministry of Culture, along with religious figures and other officials, are attending the event.
The conference consists of two panels. Speakers include Aqil Shirinov, rector of the Institute of Theology; Saadat Yusifova, deputy minister of culture; Farhad Guliyev, director of the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Philosophy in History and associate professor; Jabi Bahramov, head of the Western Azerbaijan History Department at the A.A. Bakikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Philosophy in History; Gunduz Ismayilov, deputy chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations; and other officials.
Historic religious monuments are an important part of Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage. Their preservation involves conservation, archaeological research, restoration and the protection of sites of religious and historical significance for future generations.
