Baku and Tokyo accelerate negotiations on new investment agreement

Azerbaijan and Japan have emphasized the necessity of accelerating work on a new agreement regarding the promotion and protection of investments. This initiative aims to bolster economic ties and create a more favorable environment for cross-border business activities.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that the upcoming document will provide an enhanced legal framework for the protection of investments, thereby contributing to the creation of new business opportunities in both nations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the ministers highlighted the significant role of the Azerbaijan-Japan Joint Economic Commission in fostering bilateral cooperation. Both sides welcomed ongoing efforts to expand trade and investment relations, underscoring that this agreement will establish a more reliable legal basis for investors.

The Azerbaijan-Japan Joint Economic Commission serves as a vital platform for dialogue between the two nations, facilitating discussions on energy, infrastructure, and technology. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Japan has been a key partner for Azerbaijan, particularly in the energy sector and infrastructure development projects, reflecting a long-standing commitment to mutual economic growth.
