The deepening of allied relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan has been marked by an intensification of mutual visits and institutional cooperation in recent years.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, over the past five years, President Ilham Aliyev has paid two state and four working visits to Uzbekistan, while President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has conducted two state and seven working visits to Azerbaijan.

A cornerstone of the political mechanism between the two nations is the Supreme Interstate Council, established in 2023. The Council held its inaugural meeting in Tashkent in 2024, followed by a second session in Baku in 2025, with preparations currently underway for a third meeting. This council serves as the primary platform for coordinating strategic decisions and overseeing the implementation of bilateral agreements.

Cooperation is also expanding at the regional level. The Azerbaijan–Uzbekistan Interregional Forums, which facilitate direct ties between local administrations and business communities, were held in Tashkent in 2023, Guba in 2024, and Baku in 2025. These initiatives underscore the growing economic and cultural integration between the two Turkic-speaking states.
